Laboratory Experience
Students will spend half of the time in the childcare center and the other half in the classroom.
Course Description:
Students will apply the information learned in Infant and Toddler Growth and Development and/or in Introduction to Child Development in a daycare setting.
Students will work with infants and toddlers under the supervision of caregivers and teachers in the HK Cubs Childcare Center. Developmentally appropriate practices will be used when working with infants and toddlers. Further study will be continued in the areas of physical, social, emotional, language and cognitive development. Students will also observe and participate in a toddler 2 and preschool setting. They will learn to objectively observe, record and interpret children's behavior in order to gain understanding of those behaviors. During their participation in the preschool students will assist the caregivers with care and delivery of developmentally appropriate activities for
children between the ages of two and 5.
